SecondSIM Acceptable Use Policy
Last Updated: November 6, 2025
This Acceptable Use Policy (also "Fair Usage Policy") outlines the fair and responsible use of our service. It is designed to protect our network and ensure a high-quality service for all our customers, especially the freelancers and sole traders our plan is built for.
By using our service, you agree to this policy. This policy is part of your overall agreement with SecondSIM.
Our UK-Only Unlimited Plan
Our plan is designed for professionals. It includes unlimited standard calls and texts to other standard UK landlines and mobiles.
This service functions in the UK only and does not include roaming.
"Unlimited" means you can make and receive all the standard person-to-person calls and texts you need to run your business and personal life without worrying about limits.
Acceptable vs. Unacceptable Use
This service is for direct, person-to-person communication by a sole professional.
What IS Acceptable (Examples):
- Making a high volume of calls to your clients and suppliers.
- Receiving calls from your customers.
- Sending and receiving text messages for appointments, updates, and communications.
- Using the service as the primary contact number for your sole trader business.
What IS Unacceptable (Not Allowed):
Even on an unlimited plan, you must not use the service for:
1. Illegal or Harmful Activities
- Making calls or sending messages that are harassing, offensive, abusive, or a nuisance.
- Any activity that is illegal, fraudulent, or infringes on another's rights.
2. Automated or Non-Personal Use
This is the most important part of our policy. Our service is for a person, not a machine. You must not use the service for:
- Automated Systems: Using the SIM card in a "SIM box," "GSM gateway," or any other automated equipment to make or receive calls, or to send texts.
- Bulk Broadcasting: Sending bulk, unsolicited text messages (spam) or conducting mass telemarketing campaigns (e.g., automated "robo-calls").
- Call Centres: Using the service as the connection for a multi-person call centre, virtual switchboard (PBX), or call-forwarding system.
- Resale: You cannot resell our service or allow others to use it for payment.
- Machine-to-Machine: Using the SIM in any device that is not a mobile handset for person-to-person calls.
What Happens if You Breach This Policy?
We monitor for usage patterns that suggest a breach of this policy, particularly automated or fraudulent use.
If we reasonably believe you are in breach, we will investigate. We may try to contact you via our official chat channel.
If the breach is serious (e.g., illegal use or clear automated abuse) or you continue to breach the policy after a warning, we reserve the right to:
- Suspend your access to the service immediately.
- Terminate your account and your service.
We will always try to act reasonably and proportionately.
