Already have an eSIM-compatible phone?
Get a real UK mobile number as an eSIM in under 60 seconds. Keep your physical SIM for personal use.
Running Two Numbers on One Device
Carrying separate personal and work phones is outdated. By adding a digital SecondSim eSIM alongside your primary SIM card, you can easily separate business from personal life on a single device. It is the ideal setup for running a dedicated WhatsApp Business eSIM, receiving client calls, and managing work texts without sharing your private number.
Before starting, check if your phone is eSIM-capable. You can verify this in seconds using our interactive eSIM Compatibility Checker.
| Phone Model | eSIM Capability | Physical SIM Slots | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|
| iPhone 13 / 14 / 15 / 16 Series | Dual active eSIM profiles supported natively | 1x Nano-SIM (US models are eSIM-only) | Ultimate iOS Dual SIM integration |
| iPhone XR / XS / 11 / 12 Series | 1x active eSIM profile supported | 1x Nano-SIM | Affordable secondary line setup |
| Samsung Galaxy S20 to S26 Series | Multiple profiles, 1 active eSIM | 1x or 2x Nano-SIM (depending on region) | Samsung Dual Messenger app clone setups |
| Google Pixel 7 / 8 / 9 Series | Dual active eSIM profiles supported (Pixel 7+) | 1x Nano-SIM | Cleanest pure Android BYOD experience |
| Google Pixel 3a to 6 Series | 1x active eSIM profile supported | 1x Nano-SIM | Budget-friendly Android dual number setup |
How eSIM Slot Behavior Works
To manage two lines efficiently, it is helpful to understand how modern hardware handles dual cellular connections:
Dual SIM Dual Standby (DSDS)
Most modern phones run in DSDS mode. Both your personal line and your SecondSim business line remain active to receive calls and text messages. However, since they share the same physical transceiver, if you are actively talking on one line, the other line will temporarily go offline, routing incoming callers to your voicemail.
Physical SIM + eSIM vs. Dual eSIM
Older eSIM phones require one physical plastic SIM (for personal use) and one eSIM (for SecondSim). Newer flagships (like iPhone 13+ and Google Pixel 7+) support Dual eSIM, allowing you to run two digital plans simultaneously with no physical SIM card required at all.
iPhone Dual SIM & eSIM Setup
eSIM Behavior on iOS
Apple offers the most integrated Dual SIM system on the market. From iPhone XS/XR onwards, iOS natively manages multiple lines, letting you set default lines for calls, assign custom labels (e.g., "Personal" and "Business"), and select which number to use for specific contacts.
- iPhone XR/XS to 12 Series: Supports 1 Physical SIM + 1 eSIM.
- iPhone 13 to 16 Series: Supports Dual active eSIMs (or 1 Physical + 1 eSIM).
Step-by-Step Setup:
- Open Settings > Mobile Data (or Cellular).
- Tap Add eSIM.
- Scan the QR code from your SecondSim welcome email. (If scanning fails, tap Enter Details Manually and copy-paste the SM-DP+ Address and Activation Code).
- Label your lines: Set your main line as "Personal" and the SecondSim line as "Business".
- Set default line options: Set your Personal line for calls/messages and mobile data (unless you want data on your SecondSim). Set WhatsApp Business to use your new Business number.
Android Dual SIM & eSIM Setup
Samsung Galaxy & Google Pixel Behavior
Android devices give you granular control over your SIM profiles. In the Android SIM Manager, you can instantly turn off your SecondSim line—allowing you to fully disconnect from business calls and texts on weekends or holiday periods.
- Samsung Galaxy: eSIM supported from Galaxy S20/Note 20 series and newer.
- Google Pixel: eSIM supported from Pixel 3a series and newer.
Samsung Setup & WhatsApp Dual Messenger
- Go to Settings > Connections > SIM Manager.
- Tap Add eSIM and scan the QR code from your welcome email.
- In SIM Manager, tap the new line to rename it to "SecondSim".
- Set defaults for Calls, Messages, and Mobile Data.
- Enable Dual WhatsApp: Go to Settings > Advanced Features > Dual Messenger and turn on WhatsApp. This runs a separate WhatsApp clone for your SecondSim business number.
Google Pixel Setup & App Cloning
- Go to Settings > Network & internet > SIMs.
- Tap Add SIM > Download a SIM instead? and scan your welcome QR code.
- Toggle Use SIM to ON and label it "Business".
- Under SIMs, choose your default preferences for calls, SMS, and data.
- Enable Dual WhatsApp: On Android 14+, go to Settings > Apps > Cloned Apps and clone WhatsApp, or simply install the official WhatsApp Business app.

Troubleshooting & Setup Fixes
My QR code won't scan. What should I do?
This usually happens if your phone camera cannot focus or if you are trying to scan the code under direct glare. You can install manually: tap Enter details manually on the Add eSIM screen and copy-paste the SM-DP+ Address and Activation Code provided in your welcome email.
The SMS verification code from WhatsApp is not arriving.
First, verify that your eSIM line is turned ON under Settings > Connections > SIM Manager (or Mobile Data settings on iOS). Second, check that you have mobile reception (look for the dual signal strength bars in your top status bar). If you are currently traveling outside the UK, ensure you have enabled Roaming on your SecondSim eSIM to allow incoming SMS delivery (incoming SMS messages are free of charge, but roaming must be toggled on to receive them).
Why are my personal and business contacts merging?
Unlike iPhone, Android allows you to filter contact directories. By default, both WhatsApp apps pull from the same main Google Contacts list. To separate them:
- Open your Contacts app and create a label called "Business".
- Assign all clients and work leads to this label.
- In WhatsApp Business, you can choose to only display or chat with contacts that have this specific label, ensuring friends and clients don't blend.
Will a SecondSim eSIM get my WhatsApp account banned?
No. WhatsApp actively bans virtual numbers (VoIP) because they are commonly used by spammers. Because SecondSim operates on standard Tier-1 mobile networks, our eSIMs issue real carrier numbers. They bypass WhatsApp's anti-fraud system first time, giving you long-term security. You can verify if a number is virtual or real carrier using our VoIP Verification Checker.
